Arkansas Rocks, Rivers and Roadcuts

Arkansas Museum Road TripArkansas Rocks, Rivers & Roadcuts focuses on the major geologic features of Arkansas and the processes that shaped them, and are still shaping them today.

Children of all ages, as well as adults, have a natural love of rocks and minerals and their special properties. This exhibition hopes to spark an interest in exploring the physiographic region in which you live, but also, encourage you to travel around the state to see other features not found in your area.

Experience several hands-on exhibits dealing with various geologic features around Arkansas, including at least one feature found in each of the five major physiographic regions. Maps will show various topographic features including rocks and mineral resources, seismic events and possibilities of recurrence, caves and karst topography, stream development, and erosion and deposits that shapes the land.

Center for Math & Science EducationThis exhibit was developed by the University of Arkansas Center for Math and Science Education in Fayetteville, Arkansas. This earth science exhibition ties in with Arkansas Science Curriculum Frameworks at multiple grade levels.
