Good Vibrations Exhibit

This collection of innovative, inquiry-based exhibits was developed and built especially for the Arkansas Discovery Network by the world-renowned Exploratorium in San Francisco. Frederic Remington, Western Artist and Sculptor
Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas, Pine Bluff
The work of western artist and sculptor Frederic Remington continues in the galleries at the Center with the exhibit “Frederic Remington Makes Tracks” running until Jan. 24. Remington rose to fame in the mid-1880s as an illustrator of western subjects for the most popular magazines of the day including “Harper’s and “Collier’s.” This exhibit, part of a nine-city national tour over a 2½ year period, features 50 original prints first published in the various magazines, three silver recast sculptures and one bronze portrait of Remington. Also continuing in the galleries are the “Impression-style” landscapes of artist Clyde Downs of Louisiana and the freestyle pottery of Gail Miller with Miller’s Mud Mill of Dumas.
Jan. 9 from 5-7 p.m. there is a Gallery Talk with Remington expert Anne Morand.

Mayan Family Night
Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources, Smackover
Kids' Quest members and their families are invited the the Arkansas Museum of NaturalResources in Smackover to enjoy Mayan Family Night on December 30. Enjoy a guided tour of the Mystery of the Mayan Medallion — parents and children will have an opportunity to solve the Mayan Mystery. The night will be filled with Mayan games and Mayan food. The night will conclude with a visit to the Mayan Market (gift shop) where you will have the opportunity to take home souvenirs of the night. Mayan Family Night begins at 6:30 p.m. and concludes at 8:00 p.m.

The Mystery of the Mayan Medallion

An archeological team has mysteriously disappeared from a dig site in Palenque, Mexico. They had been investigating a long-standing rumor that a priceless jade medallion is buried in the temple there. However, something horrifying has scared them off. Luckily, in their haste to escape, they managed to leave behind a video with clues and a warning to all who come after. See if you can uncover the mystery of the dig site and find the priceless treasure!
