Planet 'X' Visits Clinton School of Public Service

The Race for Planet 'X' visited grad students at the Clinton School of Public Service just down the road from our home base at the Museum of Discovery in downtown Little Rock to help us spread the word as they travel the state of Arkansas. The Clinton School of Public Service and the Arkansas Discovery Network are partnering on outreach projects in the Delta.

It was a fun day for all as they were transported back to 6th grade to experience the excitement and interactive exhibits aboard the mobile museum. One of the grad students, Ashley Davis, blogged about the day on the Clinton School of Public Service blog.

For more photos of the grad students enjoying their time on The Race for Planet 'X', check out our Flickr photostream!

Around Arkansas

Fall at the Arts and Science Center
Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas, Pine Bluff
The works of western artist and sculptor Frederic Remington, 1861-1909, will be on display from Nov. 22-Jan. 24. A Westward Ho Weekend is planned for the weekend of Nov. 22-23 to celebrate the opening. Enjoy a re-creation of an Old West-style town with demonstrations of such things as hearth cooking, rope tricks, flint knapping and pretend “gunfights.” A Gallery Talk and Reception with art historian and teacher Margo Lynch is planned for Sunday. The murderously funny southern farce, “Murder in the Magnolias,” will take to the stage 7:30 p.m. Nov. 6-8, and 2 p.m. Nov. 9. The play features characters such as Blanche Du Blank, Lawyer Possum and Sheriff Billy Jerk. Toss in a pre-historic garden complete with murderous honeysuckle, alligators, yapping hound dogs, a Voodoo woman, a menacing hurricane, a suspicious state engineer and a series of devastatingly hilarious “monologues” and you’ve got a pretty good idea of the fun found in this “extreme” Southern play. In the Gallery: Artist Clyde Downs with Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, La., is known for his western-themed landscapes in oils and watercolors; and Gail Miller with Miller’s Mud Mill in Dumas exhibits her works of free-form pottery. Blues singer Arkansas native and singer Charlotte Taylor will share her passion for blues 5-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, as part of the Center’s monthly music series, Live@5. For more information, contact the center at (870) 536-3375 or visit the website at www.artssciencecenter.org.
