Wild West Coming Back to ArkansasWild West Coming Back to Arkansas

We're working on an exhibit about the wild west, set to tour Arkansas next year. The exhibit will have lots of activities to help you go back in time and explore the West when it was young.

While researching the Wild West exhibit, we found these fun online games and websites:

At www.thewildwest.org, find out all about cowboys and Native Americans, and even learn a cowboy song or two and cook up a cowboy recipe!

Play Cowboy Billy Boom - Walk through the Wild West and save the citizens of this quiet town from the bad guys.

Oregon Trail - Load up your wagon with supplies and make your way along the Oregon Trail with your fellow pioneers in this educational adventure game.

Arkansas State University MuseumRight here in Arkansas, at one of our partner museums, the ASU Museum in Jonesboro, you can take a stroll on the boardwalk through Old Town Arkansas. While strolling down the lane, visit the general store, mercantile, jewelry and optical shop, pawn shop, barber shop, land office, post office, bank, drugstore, drug manufacturing shop, print shop, doctor's office and dentist's office, all typical of the local region between 1880 and 1920.

Arkansas Museum of Natural ResourcesAt another of our partner museums, the Arkansas Museum of Natural History, you can walk through Boom Town Street, which takes you back to Smackover, Arkansas, during the Oil Boom in the 1920s. For five months in 1925, the Smackover field was the location of one of the wildest mineral booms in North America. If you want to explore more of Arkansas history, check out other Arkansas State Parks as well.
