Mobile Museum Operator/Outreach Educator

We are looking for an Outreach Educator who loves kids, loves to travel and has an infectious enthusiasm for education. The Arkansas Discovery Network has created The Race for Planet ‘X’ mobile museum thanks to a grant from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation. Ten exhibits on the truck teach engineering skills using a storyline that will intrigue and excite sixth grade students to get involved in science-based activities.

The operator/educator is responsible for driving the vehicle to rural schools and other sites within Arkansas.  A CDL class B is required and training will be provided if necessary.  Other duties include educational program delivery, tour scheduling, light exhibit and vehicle maintenance, evaluation, promotion and collaboration with staff and teachers.   The successful candidate must possess strong communication and organizational skills and be highly self-motivated.  A Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Fine Arts, Social Work or other related field is required.

The position requires frequent travel during the year and intermittent weekend work.  This is a year-round, full time position.  Salary is $35,000 per year.  All associated lodging and meal expenses will be paid by the Network.
